Meal Planning With Your Children
Written by LaTara Ham-Ying on December 17, 2007 at December 17th, 2007
When you are creating your meal plan, you many want to include your children in on the process. There are many ways you can accomplish this task with your children.
As a matter of fact planning meals with your children can be very rewarding as it allows for a time of connection. With our lives being so busy, that is very important.
- Set a time weekly, bi-weekly or monthly where you and the kids will sit down to plan. If Sunday is a good day then set aside about an hour to go through the process with your children.
- Your children can help you decide which coupons are needed and what stores need to be shopped. This is a great way to help your child learn about budgeting, mapping, and other necessary life skills.
- Give the kids a magazine like the Vegan Family Recipe Ezine and have them chose two or three dishes to build meals around.
- Take time to create a recipe binder or photo album. The kids can cut out recipes and organize them. Again they are learning some very valuable life skills.
- Let your kids do inventory with you and write the grocery list.
There are so many ways you can connect with your children; meal planning just happens to be one of the fun ways.
Your children will enjoy the time spent, even if they act like they don?t. If you have a resistant child who thinks that meal planning is just silly, then try having them help you out in the kitchen.
The point here is to just be sure to connect to your child.
