Vegan Meal Planning

Leftovers don’t have to be boring and they don?t have to be thrown out. Planned leftovers
can be helpful in quick meals. After all, part of meal preparation is already complete!

Here are a few tips for using leftovers:

  • Use leftovers in a totally different way from the original meal and vary the way you use them. For example, don’t always use leftover vegan taco meat in tacos. Try it in chili, spaghetti, or make sloppy joes with it.
  • Locate new recipes that use foods you often have left over. Some foods are more versatile than others, but whatever the food, put it to good use and use it all before it spoils.

  • Set a time weekly, bi-weekly or monthly where you and the kids will sit down to plan. If Sunday is a good day then set aside about an hour to go through the process with your children.

The vegan kitchen, like any kitchen, must have a few necessities to make cooking simple, quick, and healthy. These staples need to always be stocked in your pantry or refrigerator.

The obvious ones are items like beans, whole grain pasta, brown rice, an all natural organic
sweetener, tofu, steel cut oatmeal, soy milk, soy butter, whole wheat bread, and other items. Then here are the seasonings such as basil, thyme, granulated garlic, onion powder, sea salt, and fresh lack peppercorns with a grinder.

When we think of holiday dinners we think of turkey, dressing, yams, mashed potatoes and ever popular green bean casserole. But you know sometimes we want something different. We don’t want to eat the same old foods and have the same old leftovers. Guess what?

That is ok.
