Thrifty Vegan Thursday

When we go to the market we have to be savvy shoppers or else we will fall for the hype. That’s right you know the eye level trick. That is where they put the most expensive items at eye level and sucker you in. And they do this to both the kids and the adult. Don’t believe take a trip down your grocery isle and pay close attention to what loom before your eyes.

I have learned over the past few year how to avoid the “eye level” trick. This week I want to share 3 of the most important ways with you.

Fantastic Foods Coupons

Coupons are a great way to save a dollar, but for vegans and even health enthusiasts, coupons are not exactly health conscious as many of the items you save on are items that many of us do not eat or use in our homes for one reason or another. I think that is why I am so into Mambo Sprouts because all of the coupons they offers are health conscious. But the Sunday paper, well it is a little hard to find items that I use. Although there are some goods ones in there it is really far and few between. While I am a fan of coupon clipping, I cannot say that it works for all people because the bottom line is that it doesn’t.

With the type of job my husband has sometimes I feed my family on a budget of $40 to $60 per week. Mind you I have all men in my house, including the cat. So that is a small budget but I make it work. There are months when we are in abundance and those months boy do we enjoy the finer things in vegan cuisine. But for the most part until my income status gets a little better or my husband gets that dream project then this budget is it.

So I have to make it work.
