Vegan Meal Planning Tips

When we go to the market we have to be savvy shoppers or else we will fall for the hype. That’s right you know the eye level trick. That is where they put the most expensive items at eye level and sucker you in. And they do this to both the kids and the adult. Don’t believe take a trip down your grocery isle and pay close attention to what loom before your eyes.

I have learned over the past few year how to avoid the “eye level” trick. This week I want to share 3 of the most important ways with you.

  • Look up and down when you hit the isles. The best bargains are often found above and below eye level. I don’t buy top name brands unless it is reasonable in price or on sale. The generic brand is just as good as the rest. Of course there are some that are not worth much at all but for the most part they are pretty good.
  • If produce is on sale buy only the amount that you need. For example if bell peppers are 10 for $1 why not just get what you need for the next two weeks. Unless you are going to freeze them and use them for cooking, the bell peppers will end up going bad and you will have wasted a few pennies. And hey, pennies do add up. Plus it is a waste to buy what you don’t really need anyway.
  • If it is out of season it too high is most likely no good. Sometimes the fruit may have been frozen and that make for some pretty nasty stuff.

Next week I will cover more ways you can be Market Savvy!
