There’s a new contest this week. The prize is a One Year subscription to the Vegetarian Times Magazine. This contest will end February 29 at which time we will announce the winner.

Here is how you can win. Blog about one of our recipes here on the site that you have tried or would love to try. If you have tried it already blog about your experience. If you want to try it, then talk about why. Once you have blogged about one of our recipes, return to this week’s podcast and post a comment about your blog. That’s it. The winner will be chosen and announced in our next episode.

This week’s show is all about pondering, blogs, and contests. I share my weekly thoughts, something new, about being a vegan. Also I will announce the next contest. Last week’s winner was Chele Neisler of Moms Love Shopping. She won a trio of Bella Diva’s Butters and she says she can’t wait to get them.

I love visiting blogs and so in this show I share three of my favorite vegan cooking blogs with you.

Enjoy the show and remember we would love to hear from you. You can comment here, call into the VFL Listener?s Line at (214) 615-6505 ext 6746 or fill out our Contact Form.

Well for the past week we have been running a cool contest over here at Vegan Family Living. Lisa Chambers of Bella Diva’s Dessert Butters was my guest for this week’s podcast and she agreed to give away a trio of her delicious vegan butters to one lucky winner.

This morning I had my oldest son shake the hat and the younger one pull a name. The winner is…

Chele Neisler of Moms Love Shopping! Congratulations Chele!

It is 4:40am and I am up and working. Why? Well, to I won’t go into all that. Let’s just say I have a bit of insomnia today. So I will most likely be taking a nap at about 10:00am once I have gotten the kids settled for the morning.

In my early morning internet hopping, I decided to open up my Netvibes page and went to the feed page to listen to some podcasts. As I looked around to see what I wanted to listen to, I saw a post that caught my eye. Chele Niesler of Moms Loves Shopping wrote about why Vegan Family Living inspires her.

Coupons are a great way to save a dollar, but for vegans and even health enthusiasts, coupons are not exactly health conscious as many of the items you save on are items that many of us do not eat or use in our homes for one reason or another. I think that is why I am so into Mambo Sprouts because all of the coupons they offers are health conscious. But the Sunday paper, well it is a little hard to find items that I use. Although there are some goods ones in there it is really far and few between. While I am a fan of coupon clipping, I cannot say that it works for all people because the bottom line is that it doesn’t.

Q: What/how do I supplement my diet with vitamins etc. to be healthy. I have been eating only fish, chicken, turkey, giving great consideration to becoming total vegan. (Joanne)

A: It is important to realize that vitamins are called ?supplements? for a reason ? they should be ?back-ups? in your diet, instead of your main source of nutrition. The body processes nutrients much better and easier with real food/food sources, than it does with nutrients in pill form. If everyone?s health could be perfect just by taking a pill, then there would be no health epidemics in today?s society; since this is not realistic, it is best to receive proper nutrition by consuming a variety of wholesome foods, and by taking a multivitamin just as a ?back-up? (for those days when you don?t/can?t eat as well as you probably should, or indulge a little bit).

I have invited Liz Stark from the Veggie Girl Blog to help me in answering questions. I get so many and feel horrible when I can’t get to them. When I met Liz and heard how knowledgeable she about vegan living, I just knew I had to have her be a part of my Vegan Family Living Team of Experts.

With the addition of Liz I have decided to start a New Meme here at Vegan Family Living. So Wednesdays will now be Wondering Vegan Wednesdays where we will answer your questions about the vegan living journey.
I do plan on bringing more experts on board in hopes of bringing you quality content and information for your vegan journey.
