Vegan Family Living Podcast Show #12 – A Cup of Tea with Me

Vegan Shopping Tips 1

Most transitioning and new vegans seem to have the hardest time shopping for food. The enigma that surrounds going to a grocery store and trying to figure out what food products one needs to make vegan meals, seems to truly confuse even the greatest mind. Another issue for many transitioning and new vegans is how expensive the food is.

Shopping for vegan groceries is not as hard as it seems. The following tips should help any vegan seeking ways to shop smart and do it right.

Sunny Breakfast Salad

Ingredients
4 carrots, shredded
2 apples, shredded
2 bananas, sliced
1 cup crushed pineapple in juice
1 cup organic vanilla soy yogurt
Directions

Mix all ingredients and enjoy.

Mexican Chickpea Wraps

These taste delicious and make a great lunch. Add a side salad for a quick dinner too.
Ingredients

For the main filling:
1 14 ounce can of chickpeas, drained and rinsed
? cup corn kernels, drained and rinsed
1 14 ounce can of chopped tomatoes
? teaspoon cumin
? teaspoon paprika
1 garlic clove, peeled and crushed
1 tablespoon olive oil

For the salsa:
1 small onion, finely sliced
2 tomatoes, finely diced
1 handful of chopped fresh cilantro (also known as coriander)
2 tablespoons olive oil
Juice of half a lime
Salt and pepper

Vegan Family Living Show 10 – Tips for a Great Vegan Holiday

Honey Ginger Sweet Potatoes

Ingredients

4 sweet potatoes

1/2 cup honey

3 tsp ginger powder

1 heaping tbsp butter

1-1/2 cups water

1 heaping tsp cornstarch

Directions

Pre-heat oven to 400?. Scrub potatoes. Leaving skin on potatoes, peel, slice, and arrange in baking dish. In a separate pot add water and cook until it starts to boil. Mix butter, honey, ginger and stir. Add cornstarch dissolved in a little cold water. Stir until it thickens; pour over potatoes and bake in oven 40-45 minute until brown.
